Vortex, Milan EXPO in the city

 Maria Cristina Finucci

“With its captivating colors and imposing appearance, Vortex is not only a symbol of energy and vitality, but also of destructive power, much like the plastic it is made of. It is a work,” says Maria Cristina Finucci, “that aims to create an intellectual and emotional connection with the viewer, with the intention of giving a concrete image to a phenomenon that is, by nature, almost invisible: microplastics, which are killing the oceans—a problem that, in some way, has been produced by each of us and affects us all.”

“Fondazione Bracco is honored to promote and host this site-specific installation in the new spaces of Folli 50.0. A project,” says Diana Bracco, President of the Bracco Foundation, “that aligns perfectly with the artistic, cultural, and social ‘construction site’ envisioned by our Foundation. The theme of promoting sensitivity and respect for the environment, as addressed by Vortex, is of primary importance, and we want to give it a ‘voice,’ believing that art can be a privileged tool for understanding and exploring the global reality and its many facets.”

The installation Vortex, created with the support of the Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of Land and Sea and in collaboration with the University of Roma TRE, was on display at Mostrami Factory @Folli 50.0 from March 15 to October 31, 2015.
